FilmDreams Finances

If a full 90 minute film is ultimately to be produced, the goal will be to keep costs under $100,000 U.S., with preparation made for an over-run of up to 20% if warranted (a total of $120,000).  My most standards, this is a tiny amount of money to put together a film  However, if the script, the people, the locations, the style are well chosen and the management of the project is lean and efficient, it is possible.

If it is decided either that insufficient funds exist to do a good job or that it is ultimately smarter to concentrate on a 13.5 minute concept demo for the purpose of interesting a larger production company, then the costs go down substantially and are likely in the $20K to $50K range depending on what is selected.

At all times, our finances will be made available to paid members.  Some limited financial summary information will be made available to the general public.  In order to maintain a reputation for being an honest, above-board effort, the venture will operate under a U.S. based company name with Allan Barnard as the sole owner (subject to later review).  However, all the accounting and disbursement of funds will be done through a known and established U.S. accounting firm.  Naturally, the goal will be to involve an accounting group that would do the work for free in return for exposure to our membership or simply because we are a shoestring production and they find our project interesting.

In order to accept contributions from members (via membership due or voluntary contribution), a full e-commerce capability will be set up for the site.

In the end, economics rules the world in general and all projects in specific.  Creativity and passion are important, but ultimately are subordinate to the heavy weight of gold and finding and managing of it.  In great part, it is this section that in post-analysis will tell the true tale of our efforts.
